The Florida Public Service Commission has approved Gulf Power’s second power rate reduction. The new rates will go into effect in 2019. An additional request to lower rates based off reduced fuel prices is still pending but, if approved, average customers will see a combined savings of $2.70 in their monthly electricity bill. Jeff Rogers, Gulf Power spokesman, said the utility anticipates the Public Service Commission will take a vote on the fuel savings in mid-November. Gulf Power CEO Stan Connally said he was excited prices will be the lowest in five years.
