Two red light cameras have been installed on State Road 85 in Crestview. One camera is at the intersection with US 90, and the other at Redstone Boulevard. A traffic violation at either location will cost a violator a $158 fine, well below the state’s mandated fee of $262 for a ticket issued by a law enforcement officer. The city says they only get a portion of the fine money, with the rest, going to the state and contractor for maintenance. A police spokesperson says the cameras are activated by the speed of a vehicle start shooting video, taking before and after photos. The cameras do not officially go into service until the first of next year.
