Escambia County School Superintendent Malcolm Thomas has been selected as Florida’s 2019 Superintendent of the Year. Thomas was recognized for his leadership as superintendent over the past 10 years, and for his nearly four decades of service to Escambia County students. Thomas began his career as a teacher, and he went on to serve as an education specialist, a coordinator and an administrator before being elected Escambia County Superintendent in November 2008. Thomas was re-elected twice, and he recently announced plans to retire when his third term concludes in 2020.
