ESCAMBIA COUNTY DEPUTIES KILL KNIFE-WIELDING SUSPECT

Escambia County deputies shot and killed a man who attacked them with a meat cleaver early Saturday morning. It happened just before 4 a.m. at the Alabaster Garden Apartments off Massachusetts Avenue after someone reported a murder. Arriving deputies were confronted by a man  holding a meat cleaver who refused to drop the weapon. When he attacked deputies he was shot and killed. No deputies were injured. The name of the suspect has not yet been released. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is now investigating, which is standard procedure in shootings involving law enforcement officers.
