The National Park Service says Highway 399 between Pensacola Beach and Navarre has re-opened after extensive repairs of damage from Hurricane Michael. The road, which stretches through Gulf Islands National Seashore along the Gulf of Mexico, has been closed since early October. In a news release, the National Park Service said the highway had significant damage from the storm and the park service said road crews removed damaged asphalt and installed sand confinement systems before repaving Highway 399. Work is scheduled to begin on bike lanes damaged by Hurricane Michael in the Fort Pickens area of Gulf Islands National Seashore starting in January.
