WALTON COUNTY CONFEDERATE FLAG

Last February Walton County commissioners voted unanimously to allow voters to decide whether a Confederate flag should continue to fly outside the courthouse. County Attorney Sidney Noyes said 65 percent of voters wanted to leave the flag where it was, but that the referendum on the Confederate flag was not binding because Florida Statute 125 does not allow binding straw ballots on this type of measure. Presumably, it will be up to Walton County Commissioners to decide whether the flag will continue to fly.
