The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has issued an update on the red snapper fishery and the 2019 Gulf red snapper recreational season. Under the draft proposal, the Gulf season would be open from June 11th until July 12th, with a possible fall reopening if the quota permits. The season would apply to those fishing from private recreational vessels in state and federal waters and to charter vessels that do not have a federal reef fish permit. A final review and approval of the 2019 Gulf red snapper recreational season will be made at the February meeting.
