LAUREL HILL TEACHER’S LICENSE SUSPENDED

Laurel Hill School teacher who was fired by the Okaloosa County School District in November for sitting on the lap of a male student, has had her teaching certificate suspended for one year. The Florida Education Practices Commission said it had reached a Revised Settlement Agreement with Amanda Varnum that will prevent her from renewing her education certification until Sept. 13, 2019. They said that she engaged in inappropriate conduct when she sat in the lap of a 12th grade student. The agreement also requires Varnum to pay a $750 fine and take a course in Classroom Management.
