As a result of the partial shutdown of the federal government Gulf Islands National Seashore is closing several areas of the park and canceling visitor services for the duration of the shutdown. That includes the Perdido Key, Fort Pickens, Fort Barrancas, Naval Live Oaks and Okaloosa areas, as well as the Opal Beach complex, of the National Seasore. The National Park Service said all park waters, as well as Highway 399 between Pensacola Beach and Navarre Beach, will remain accessible to visitors, but emergency and rescue services will be limited.
