SOLDIER PLEADS IN EGLIN DRUG CASE

An Army 7th Special Forces Group Green Beret has pleaded guilty to taking part in a conspiracy to smuggle 90 pounds of cocaine from Colombia into Eglin Air Force Base. Master Sgt. Daniel J. Gould entered the plea Thursday in U.S. District Court in Pensacola, admitting he “was involved with an international conspiracy” with two other people indicted in the case last month. The cocaine was found concealed in two “heavy bags” used by boxers in training. Gould pleaded guilty Thursday to conspiring to distribute and conspiring to possess or distribute cocaine.  Both crimes carry a mandatory 10-year sentence, and he could face up to life imprisonment.
