A lockdown at Bailey Middle School and Hellen Caro Elementary School in west Escambia County yesterday morning has resulted in the arrest of a 15-year-old student. FOUND BODY

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is conducting a death investigation after a body was found in a pond off Navy Boulevard near Old Corry Road. Investigators say a country work crew found the body around 1pm. The identity and cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner’s office and the investigation is on-going.MORE

NAS BOMB THREAT

A bomb threat at Naval Air Station Pensacola yesterday caused access to be restricted to the base for a time. Public Affairs Officer Patrick Nichols said the threat was called in to building 4149 around 11:30 a.m. and the back gate was closed. Security forces, including K9 officers, swept the area for explosives.MORE

WARRANT ISSUED IN BOATING DEATH

The State Attorney’s Office says a warrant has been issued for the arrest of a Valparaiso resident for his involvement in a fatal boating accident last year that killed 24-year-old Anthony Jarab. INJURED BOBCAT RECOVERING

A bobcat struck by a car in Navarre on Tuesday morning, is recovering. The adult male bobcat was brought to the Emerald Coast Wildlife Refuge by a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officer about 11 a.m. with internal trauma and head trauma. PANAMA CITY SPRING-BREAK RULES

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office and the Panama City Beach Police Department are reminding beach-goers and spring-breakers that  drinking on the beaches is prohibited starting today. Last year 168 people were arrested for drinking alcoholic beverages on the beach in March. Most paid a $200 fine.MORE

Jim Bailey Middle School was on lockdown Wednesday morning due to a possible security threat. Authorities say the lockdown has now been lifted. Local officials responded quickly but the threat was unfounded.MORE
