Early voting began in Escambia County on Saturday and turnout was high. There were 1,591 early votes cast, up 25 percent over 2016, and up 151 percent over 2014. COCAINE SMUGGLING

The Northwest Florida Daily News is reporting a 7th Special Forces Group soldier has been arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle nearly 90 pounds of cocaine from Colombia into Eglin Air Force Base. MORE FLORIDA ALLIGATOR-HUNTING PERMITS

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission say they have issued more than 7,500 permits, including an additional 1,313 county-wide permits to harvest alligators as a method to help manage the alligator population. BLUE BUTTONS ON BEACHES

Little marine creatures resembling small jellyfish have washed up on area beaches.
