The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation says as of December 21st, estimated insured losses from October’s Hurricane Michael have exceeded 4.65 billion dollars with 134,656 claims filed. Hurricane Michael made landfall October 10th as a Category 4 storm in Mexico Beach in southeastern Bay County causing massive damage in Panama City as well as areas such as Blountstown and Marianna as it continued north into Georgia. The largest number of claims, 80,968, have been filed in Bay County and overall, almost 70-percent of claims have been closed.
