FLORIDA SEPTIC SYSTEM BILL

A new bill filed in the Florida Legislature is intended to eliminate water-polluting septic systems. The bill would require owners of septic systems that don’t have operating permits to get them inspected at least once every five years, repair or pump-out failing systems and provide a sales disclosure about the system. The bill would also require the Florida Department of Health to identify and assess the condition of all septic systems by January 1st, 2021, using existing records, not onsite inspections to gather the information as well develop a 10-year county-by-county implementation plan.
