The Pensacola News Journal is reporting that the Florida Department of Law Enforcement has arrested 21 people who ran an opioid trafficking ring that stretched from the Panhandle to South Florida. Investigators said the illegal prescription drugs were distributed in Miami-Dade, Broward, Walton and Okaloosa counties. Called “Operation Crazy 8” it targeted members of the ring who sold prescription painkillers, including oxycodone and hydromorphone, some of which were obtained from South Florida pain clinics. Two suspects from Escambia County – 39-year-old Tyshaun Tarver, of Penscaola, and 36-year-old Ashley McDaniel, of Cantonment – were booked into the Okaloosa County Jail on trafficking charges.
