The Institute for Human and Machine Cognition in Pensacola has been awarded a grant for a half-million dollars by the Toyota Mobility Foundation. The challenge was to develop life-changing technology for people with lower-limb paralysis. IHMC’s project is a powered exoskeleton which allows wheelchair-bound patients to get up and walk. IHMC is one of five finalists announced at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. The winner of the challenge will receive a one million prize to help ready the design for the home market.
