TYNDALL F-22’s MAY STAY AT EGLIN

F-22 Raptor fighter jets that were moved from Tyndall Air Force Base to Eglin Air Force Base to escape the wrath of Hurricane Michael, may be there for a while. What’s called an interim bed-down proposal has been accepted by the White House office that coordinates federal environmental efforts and says Eglin could be the home of pilot and maintenance training for the F-22 Raptor fighter jet for as long as three years. In all, 31 Raptors, 18 T-38s and as many as 800 personnel will be at Eglin when the transfer of F-22 operations from Tyndall is completed. The Air Force is required to assess likely environmental impacts, which says jet noise as the only projected significant environmental impact.
