Crestview has a new police chief. Mayor David Cadle chose long-time city officer Jamie Grant without interviewing any of the 31 job applicants. Grant had been serving as interim chief following last June’s firing of former chief Tony Taylor. Grant’s annual salary is $101,741, a substantial increase over Taylor’s parting salary of $88,581. Grant, initially said he didn’t want the job, and planned to retire from the police force at the end of 2018. The Crestview High School has been with the department for nearly 30 years and has served under five different chiefs.
