ESCAMBIA DEPUTY-INVOLVED SHOOTING

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office says one person was shot and killed by a deputy Friday night in North Escambia County. Deputies responded to the 10000-block of Highway 97 near Greenland Road, just south of the Alabama state line on a report that an armed family member was threatening to kill another family member. When deputies arrived on scene, the unnamed male refused deputy commands and when he raised his firearm in the direction of a deputy, he was shot and killed. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating.
