The Florida Office of Insurance Regulation says estimated insured losses from Hurricane Michael have topped 5.5 billion dollars. 143,600 claims had been filed, and Bay County had the most reported claims, with 86,533. It was followed by Jackson County, with 13,821; Leon County, with 9,746; and Gulf County with 8,106. Hurricane Michael made landfall on October 10th in Mexico Beach as a strong Category 4 storm.
