AMENDMENT 4 CLARIFICATION

Supervisors of Elections in Florida want the Florida Legislature to clarify the language of Constitutional Amendment 4, which restore voting right to felons in Florida who have served their time.   Amendment 4 would not apply to those convicted of murder or sexual offenses, unless the Governor and Cabinet vote to restore their voting rights on a case by case basis. However, clarification is needed on what it means to complete all terms of their sentence. Another question relates to the exclusions of murder or sex offenses since the amendment fails to name specific charges or degrees. However, no bill has been filed yet.
