The Florida Forest Service is asking residents to be careful with outdoor burning as cooler temperatures have lowered humidity in the area. David Smith, Operations Administrator for the Blackwater Forestry Center, said while there are no burn bans in effect residents may burn piles of yard debris less than 8 feet in diameter if the pile are 25 feet from any wooded area, 50 feet from a paved public road and 150 feet from occupied dwellings. Piles greater than eight feet require a burn authorization from the Florida Forest Service. For more information about authorizations, contct Blackwater Forestry Center headquarters.
