Dr. Scott Rivkees, who is the chair of pediatrics at the Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Sacred Heart in Pensacola has been named as Florida’s surgeon General and secretary of the Florida Department of Health by Governor Ron DeSantis. Doctor Rivkees is a practicing pediatric endocrinologist and also a professor and chair of the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Florida College of Medicine and physician-in-chief of Shands Children’s Hospital. Doctor Rivkees said a position that has the responsibility to ensure that Florida’s 21 million citizens have access to affordable, safe and quality healthcare.
