A man wanted in Pasco and Franklin Counties was shot and killed by Mexico Beach police in Bay County yesterday after he confronted officers with a firearm. The Bay County Sheriff’s Office say Mexico Beach Police Officers responded to Rustic Sands Campground around 9:50 a.m. Wednesday morning to arrest a wanted person. There was a confrontation and the suspect – who has not yet been identified – was shot and died at a local hospital. Further investigation revealed the subject had 12 active warrants out of Pasco County and was wanted for Grand Theft in Franklin County. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating, which is standard procedure in officer-involved shootings.
