More earthquakes have been reported in the North Escambia County area. The. United States Geological Survey says a 2.8 magnitude earthquake occurred at 3:11 p.m. near Big Escambia Creek in Escambia County, Alabama, just over the state line. A, a 2.5 magnitude quake occurred in about the same area at 11:33 a.m. Over the past few weeks other earthquakes have been recorded close to the Florida-Alabama line, but all have been minor and no property damage or injuries have occurred. The USGS has placed additional detection equipment in the area to monitor the quakes.
