Escambia County Area Transit workers have taken a no-confidence vote in Assistant Transit Manager Tonya Ellis, who is set to become the interim transit manager when director, Mike Crittenden, retires in June. Mike Lowery, the president of Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1395, told the Pensacola News Journal the union and the county had reached a tentative labor agreement April 25th, but the county reneged on the agreement and the union walked out of the meeting Friday after Lowery said a county attorney tried to open negotiations on five articles of the contract. The union said that by not standing by what had previously been agreed upon they felt Ellis will not stand up for the workers.
