Money to help local governments provide bear-resistant garbage containers did not make it into Florida’s next-year budget. Lawmakers had considered allocating $500,000 to help local communities reduce bear interactions with humans. But the “Bear Wise” language was not included in the final 91 billion dollar budget approved Saturday by lawmakers. Additionally, overall funding for nuisance wildlife control was reduced by 1.1 million dollars.
