The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office says a 37-year-old Pensacola man accused of torturing a toddler has died a week after hanging himself in his jail cell. Andrew Bennett Ross Celaius, was found hanging in his jail cell around 11 p.m. on May 1st, a few hours after being charged with abusing his girlfriend’s 2-year-old daughter. Celaius was transported to a local hospital, and he remained there until family members made the decision to terminate his life support. One of Celaius friends, Eric Furnans, was arrested for destroying evidence in the case.
