ANOTHER EMS INTERNAL INVESTIGATIONPosted on May 13, 2019Interim County Administrator Matt Coughlin has ordered another internal investigation for Escambia County Emergency Medical Services after the county wrote off nearly 6 million dollars in uncollected EMS bills. The write-off was blamed on a software glitch and the investigation will look into who made the decision to buy EMS billing software in 2018. The contract to purchase the software appears to have been split into three parts, all under $50,000, which meant they never came to the County Commission for approval. Coughlin told the commission Thursday that the investigation would determine who in EMS made the decision to buy the software.
