The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission has approved a near-shore snorkeling reef off of Casino Beach with construction expected to start early next year. Robert Turpin, marine resource manager for Escambia County, said the $59,000 project is part of a larger annual grant request by FWC to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for artificial reef projects. The reef will consist of 22 reef modules.
