The Pensacola News Journal is reporting that State Representative Mike Hill says he is facing a “social media lynching” on Twitter for a statement he denies making about supporting legislation that would seek the death penalty for homosexuality. On May 23rd Hill was speaking about the 2019 legislative session during a meeting of the Women for Responsible Legislation when someone said the Bible called for the death penalty and someone else asked if Hill planned to introduce legislation to put gay people to death. Hill said people laughed and he did not believe anyone took it seriously. However, the Florida Democratic Party issued a statement criticizing Hill as did several Republicans in the Florida House.
