SCHOOL BUS DRIVER CHARGED

The Florida Highway Patrol says a Santa Rosa County school bus driver has been charged with reckless driving after a student was dragged 300 feet after the student’s backpack got caught in the school bus doors. It happened last Thursday, around 2:15 p.m. as the driver – 59-year-old Teresa Samo – was dropping children off on Duncan Ridge Drive in Navarre, Troopers say Samo failed to notice the child was trapped in the bus doors and started to drive off, but stopped after a short distance. The child sustained minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital.
