The hot and dry conditions continue throughout the region and the Florida Forest Service says the local fire danger index has been increased to high. Outdoor burning is discouraged until significant rainfall occurs, but no outright ban has yet been announced. The fire risk is very high for Bay and Calhoun Counties; high for Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa Counties; moderate for Gulf and Franklin Counties; and low for Washington County.
