State officials say the Highway 4 bridge over Canoe Creek in North Escambia County is down to one lane after a problem was found with a piling under the bridge. It will be about a week before it is repaired. The 225-foot long bridge between Bratt and Century averages over 1,000 vehicles per day and was constructed in 1942. Officials said even with one lane closed the bridge is safe for traffic.
