LOCAL PROJECTS VETOED BY GOVERNOR

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has vetoed more than 4.6 million dollars in projects slated for Escambia and Santa Rosa counties, including $600,000 for safety improvements for West Cervantes Street. However, the Florida Department Of Transportation plans to ask the Legislature for 7 million dollars to fund West Cervantes improvements, beginning with the 2020-2021 budget. The city of Pensacola saw the largest cut for a local project, losing 1.5 million dollars for the ST Engineering campus expansion at Pensacola International Airport. However, much of the expansion remains funded. Santa Rosa County lost 2.5 million dollars in funding for several projects, including Woodbine Road, the I-10 Industrial Park, the new courthouse and the Midway Fire District.
