WORKER’S COMP CLAIM TO SUPREME COURT

A woman who was injured after tripping over her dog while working at home and said she is entitled to workers’ compensation insurance benefits, has taken the issue to the Florida Supreme Court. The 1st District Court of Appeal ruled against Tammitha Valcourt-Williams, an insurance claims adjuster. She was hurt in 2016 as she worked out of her home suffering knee, hip and shoulder injuries in the fall. She filed a workers’ compensation claim, which was denied. A Judge of Compensation Claims disagreed, but the 1st District Court of Appeals overturned the Judge’s ruling. The case is now going to the Florida Supreme Court.
