The Gulf Breeze City Council has passed a new ordinance that prohibits residents from burning yard debris on their property inside the city limits. Citizens are now directed to dispose of their yard waste using the city’s curbside pickup service or waste transfer station. Recreational fires in a fire pit, a barbecue grill or cooking over a campfire are still allowed.  Violators would be issued a civil a citation, which could include a civil penalty fee of up to $500 if contested.
