SMOKE DETECTOR RECALL

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says a Maryland company is recalling 180,000 smoke detectors because they may not warn residents of a fire. The smoke alarms were manufactured in Hong Kong for Universal Security Instruments and were sold from July 2015 to December 2016 for about $20.00 each. According to the Safety Commission, Universal Security Instruments has received 134 reports of failure to properly activate.
