The Associated Press is reporting that 3,000 farmers hurt by the trade dispute with China – including some in Northwest Florida – have received payments from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. China has been a major importer of Northwest Florida crops such as soybeans and cotton. Farmers in Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties received payments, but none in Bay County. Payments are limited to $125,000 per farmer and can vary depending on the size of the farm and the amount of loss.
