PENSACOLA BAY BRIDGE OPENING DELAYED

The date for traffic to start using the new span of the Pensacola Bay Bridge has been delayed until at least August 4th. The Florida Department of Transportation said the delay was caused by recent bad weather and an ambitious schedule from the contractor. The new dates are now August 4th for eastbound traffic and August 8th for westbound traffic. Plans call for demolition of the existing bridge to begin once traffic begins flowing on the first expanse of the new bridge. The entire 400 million-dollar project is scheduled for completion in mid-2021.
