The intersection of Hutchinson Street between Highway 98 and Ocean View Drive in Destin was closed for a time yesterday because of a broken water main, which damaged the road. The City of Destin’s Public Information Officer said AT&T workers were installing poles as part of a cellular contract with the city when they hit the main water line causing the roadway to collapse in one spot.
