MILTON HIGH ATHLETIC DIRECTOR DEMOTED

Santa Rosa County Superintendent Tim Wyrosdick has demoted Milton High School Athletic Director Murray Rutledge. Wyrosdick said Rutledge committed egregious and voluminous violations of School District policies and practices by misappropriating thousands of dollars paid in stipends to coaches and by failing to adequately supervise volunteers in the school’s sports programs. The State Attorney’s office investigated, but found no criminal violations. Rutledge, a 37-year School District employee, is now the adaptive physical education teacher for special needs students at the Douglas A. Dillon Center. Wyrosdick also suspended Milton Principal Timothy Short and Assistant Principal Benjamin West without pay.
