SUSPECT IN FATAL HIT-AND-RUN ARRESTED

The Florida Highway Patrol said a firefighter from the Midway Fire District was arrested yesterday for a hit-and-run traffic crash on the Navarre Bridge that killed a Texas woman last year. Troopers say Jeannette Martinez of Houston, Texas, and Amber Morin, also of Houston, were riding on the outside of a vehicle driven by Martinez’s husband, Pedro, when Jeannette Martinez fell off and was struck by a car driven by 26-year-old Cale Secondine, who left the scene. Secondine is charged with hit and run for failing to stop at a crash involving death. He was released from the Santa Rosa County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
