The Department of Veterans Affairs is banning smoking at all of its health care facilities. The upcoming bans will also apply to electronic cigarettes with nicotine vapor cartridges. On October 1st, smoking will be prohibited for patients, visitors, volunteers, contractors and vendors. An agreement between the VA and the union representing VA healthcare workers will make the smoking ban effective no later than January of next year.
