The Walton County Sheriff’s Office says an escaped inmate from Tallahassee was apprehended in Walton County with the assistance of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Around 5 p.m. Wednesday, an FWC Officer spotted a car in the area of Choctaw Beach matching the description of one driven by a wanted fugitive. After a short pursuit, the suspect’s vehicle hit a tree and the escapee, Eugene Carter, and the passenger, Tanya Dale, fled on foot, but were captured on Juniper Avenue. Carter escaped from the Tallahassee Community Release Center last Sunday, where he was serving a four-year sentence on charges from Okaloosa County. Dale is charged with fleeing and eluding, possession of methamphetamine, aiding a fugitive, and is being held on $20,000 bond.
