The Florida Department of Transportation says demolition of the old Pensacola Bay Bridge is underway. The contractor plans to employ two demolition operations that will continue until mid-2020. Construction of the new westbound bridge will be ongoing with demolition activities. The new span is now open to two-way traffic. The new bridge is the largest public-works project ever in the area.
