Escambia County Commissioners have agreed to hire Doctor Tim Gallagher as the interim medical examiner for Northwest Florida at a base salary of $350,000, with the possibility of much more from fees for additional autopsies. Escambia County was the second of the four counties in the First Judicial Circuit served by the medical examiner to ratify the agreement. Current Medical Examiner Dr. Andrea Minyard leaves her position September 30th. Gallagher is currently the assistant medical examiner, and no other candidates have applied for the position. Walton and Santa Rosa counties must still approve the agreement.
