DOG-FIGHTING ARRESTS

The U.S. Attorney’s Office says five people were arrested Wednesday on a 44-count federal indictment for their involvement in a Pensacola-based dogfighting ring. The ring operated under the name C Wood Kennels, arranged dogfights, allowed the dogs to attack “bait” animals and performed veterinary care without a license to avoid taking the dogs to licensed veterinarians. Facing charges are: 35-year-old Shane Sprague and 38-year-old Derek Golson, of Pensacola, 24-year-old Haley Murph and 67-year-old Tommy Peek, of Milton, and 36-year-old David Moser, of Waynesboro, Tennessee. The group is charged under the Animal Welfare Act, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Office of the Inspector General is continuing to investigate the case.
