NEW CELL PHONE DRIVING LAW

A new Florida law banning the use of handheld cell phones while driving in a designated school crossing, school zone, or active work zone area takes effect today. Law enforcement officers will issue warnings until January 1st. Violators can be charged with a moving violation, which includes a sixty-dollar fine – not including court costs or other fees – and three points on their driver’s license. A new texting and driving law went into effect back on July 1st, which changes texting and driving from a secondary offense to a primary offense.
