NORTHWEST FLORIDA DROUGHT WORSENS

The weekly drought monitor is out and the drought across northwest Florida is getting worse. The monitor is not an agency but a partnership between the National Drought Mitigation Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the United States Department of Agriculture, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. So fat this year, Pensacola is 12.7 inches below average for rainfall and Northern Okaloosa and Walton counties are now under a severe to extreme drought. Isolated showers are in the forecast over the next few days, but no significant rainfall is expected.
